And the winner is...

22 September 2005

Winner of the Logo Contest is Alan U. with his Logo "Joomla 01" as I voted for this Logo :)
This logo looks like a microsoft one "microsoft office 2003 for windows Logo"
He is going to make now some color modifications to the logo, as requested by the development team.
Microsoft uses the same idea behind their logo, as you can see here:

Small bugs in Joomla 1.0 - Kleine Fehler in Joomla 1.0

20 September 2005

Unfortunately, there seem to be some minor bugs.
Most obvious is an error in the "user modules", where the content of the module isn't shown.
And others.
At the Forum.joomla.org there are threads with different solutions. Also a ZIP with updated files is offered. Use at your own risk.
As you can read in the Forum, an official Maintenance Release [1.0.1] will be announced shortly to fix this and a few other bugs that slipped past the testing phase of 1.0.0

Screenshots: Joomla! 1.0

19 September 2005

Graham Spice addet on his website some interesting admin creenshots about the new Joomla! 1.0.
_________________________________________________________

Also, mal ausprobieren.

EDIT:
Now you can test Joomla, with an Online Demo site at: demo.joomla.org You can also access the Admin Backend as an 'Administrator' via: Username: admin Password: admin.

Open Source Buchprojekte in allen Sprachen anzubieten.

Was ist Joomla!

11 September 2005

Introduction-English:

Joomla! is a free, open source content management system written with PHP for publishing content on the world wide web and intranets using a MySQL database. Joomla! includes features such as page caching to improve performance, web indexing, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, forums, polls, calendars, website searching, and language internationalization.

History
Joomla! came into being as the result of a fork of Mambo_(CMS) between Miro Corporation of Australia, the copyright holder of the Mambo name, and the bulk of the volunteer development team. The two groups parted ways on August 17th, 2005. The central issue resulting in the divide is reported to have been over who would control the vision for the future direction of the project. The Miro Corporation formed a non-profit foundation with the stated purpose to fund the project and protect it from law-suits. The development team found that many of the provisions of the foundation structure violated core open source values.
The development team created a web site called Open Source Matters to protest the actions of Miro. Lead Developer Andrew Eddie, aka "MasterChief," wrote this article which appeared on the announcements section of the public forum at mamboserver.com: Open Letter to the Community.
Miro continiues to work on Mambo, and calls this a "childish attempt" of the previous core team.

Open Source Matters
Open Source Matters (OSM) is a website founded by the former core developement team of Mambo content management system. The development team formed Open Source Matters to distribute information to users, developers, web designers and the community in general.

On August 17, 2005, the core development team unanimously left the Mambo project as a result of Miro International establishing the Mambo Foundation without consulting the core development team or the project's community developers. In a letter to the community, Andrew Eddie, Mambo's project manager, stated that open source software should be open to the participation of anybody who can contribute value and is willing to work with the community. Peter Lamont, Miro CEO, claimed Miro would transfer all copyrights of Mambo to the foundation, however, failed to do so by the time the core developers left the project. Miro did eventually transfer the copyrights on August 23, 2005. Another reason given by the core developers for their departure is that the first board of regents of the foundation was appointed by Peter Lamont, and consisted of a majority of members being employees of Miro.

On September 1, 2005, the leaders of Open Source Matters announced that their new product will be named Joomla! The name is a phonetic spelling of the Swahili word jumla meaning "all together" or "as a whole". It was chosen to reflect the commitment of the development team and community to the project. The first release of Joomla! (Joomla! 1.0.0) will be a re-branded release of Mambo 4.5.2.3 combined with other bug fixes. In the project's roadmap, the core developers say Joomla! 2.0 will be a completely re-written code base built with PHP 5. Their new site can be found at www.joomla.org.
